MAJOR FACTIONS
Rebel Alliance had to transform almost overnight from loose cells of insurgents rebels and guerrilla fighters into a new, functioning government. Within days of their great victory, the New Republic was flooded with systems willingly joining them, and just as many systems requesting their involvement in rebuilding, peace-keeping or defense.
Despite skilled and experienced leaders, the young government groans under the new burdens. It’s military, still inferior to the Empire’s as a whole, must now be divided between decisive actions and policing of its new territory, a task made harder by a great number of opportunists and upstarts who rise on all sides.
The Republic remains a beacon of hope for many in the galaxy. Many believe that in time it will grow as vast and stable as the Old Republic, and many dare dream that Luke Skywalker will rebuild the Jedi Temple and bring the fallen knights back from the ashes...
The Battle of Endor crushed the Empire. With the loss of the emperor himself and massive naval losses in the battle, imperial leaders fled to their own sectors, many of them going rogue. The Remnant in a tug of war between factions: The Shadow Council rules with figurehead Grand Admiral Rae Sloane, while the former intelligence apparatus and many of the inquisitors serve Ysanne Isard's more insidious leadership.
A great part of the Empire's former territory and might is now already independent in all but name. Numerous Moffs and Admirals, who found themselves in positions of strength after the Emperor’s death, have become Warlords over their sectors and quietly ignore all communication from the Remnant.
